Our Family

Jamie and Lance met in April2004 through a Christian teen website called Planet Wisdom.  We had both been a part of the Planet Wisdom online community for several years but had never met.  One day Lance saw a picture of Jamie on the website and decided to talk to her.  A little more than a year later (and after spending lots of time together in person) the two were married in Denton Texas.

Ben was born in July of 2007 and Micah was born 2.5 years later in January 2010.

Jamie worked as a professional photographer and Lance worked for Verizon and we owned a cute little house in Texas.  But we  (yes, I’m going to stop talking in third person now) knew that we wanted more.  It’s not that we wanted more money or a better home.  We just wanted a change.  We knew that something had to change for us to move forward in our lives.

After 6 years of marriage, we decided to make a BIG change in our lives.  Lance quit his job at Verizon and took a job that moved us to Phoenix, AZ in November of 2011. Lance enjoyed his job, but we had a lot of debt from silly decisions we had made as young adults.  In February 2013, we decided to make an even BIGGER change, and Lance became a DoD contractor in Afghanistan for 9 months. We missed him so much, but I learned a lot about myself, my kids, and our family in his absence.

When he returned home in October 2013, he got an awesome job that moved us to the Seattle area. We are loving it so far. It’s a BIG change from the Phoenix desert.

Sometimes life is stressful. Sometimes I am afraid of the unknown, but I am constantly reminding myself of these truths:

“In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.”
– Job 12:10

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
-Deuteronomy 31:8
